Jul, advent

Thursday, November 27th, 2008

O Come, all you faithful

Sunday, December 23rd, 2007

O Come, all you faithful, joyful and triumphant!
O Come now, O Come now to Bethlehem!
Come and behold him, born the king of angels:

Refrain:
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord!

True God of true God,
light of light eternal;
He, who abhors not the virgin’s womb:
Son of the Father:
begotten, not created:
O come…

Sing, like the angels,
sing in exultation.
Sing, all you citizens of heaven above,
‘Glory to God
glory in the highest’:
O come…

Yes, Lord, we greet You,
born this happy morning,
Jesus, to You be glory given!
Word of the Father,
now in flesh appearing:
O come…

Christmas and X mas or X-mas or Xmas

Sunday, December 23rd, 2007

Now Christmas is comming nearer, I must comment on this expression that has come into English as well as Danish language: X-mas.

I find it rather alarming that the attitude of the world and many businesses is so anti-Jesus or Anti-Christ that people do not want to say Christmas, referring to Christ or Jesus Christ, Son of God, that now it has become x-mas. We have x-man, x-wife, x-boyfriend, x-girlfriend, x-mas.

So people will soon and some do already make other stories around Christmas rather than hearing about Jesus, they hear about mythological characters, idols, invented characters etc.

Let us not stamp on our cultural heritage and let pagans take over. Who would joke about the Muslim special days in TV or radio or give them a nickname. Despite the Mohammed cartoons and what seemed to be a determination in Danish media against being censored by the Muslim world, it seems to me they have been censored by themselves.

Why should we call it X-mas when we should be happy for our freedom to celebrate and call it Christmas? Christians are still being tortured, terrorised and even murdered for loving the Christ, whom we celebrate on Christmas. So in respect and honor of Jesus Christ and those persecuted for His Names sake, let us call Christmas Christmas, and use it everywhere we can and whenever we can.

Silent Night – Christian Christmas Songs

Sunday, January 14th, 2007

Silent Night

Silent night, holy night!
All is calm, all is bright.
Round yon Virgin, Mother and Child.
Holy infant so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace.

Silent night, holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight.
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia,
Christ the Savior is born!
Christ the Savior is born.

Silent night, holy night!
Son of God love’s pure light.
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus Lord, at Thy birth.
Jesus Lord, at Thy birth.

Oh Little Town of Bethlehem – Christian Christmas Songs

Sunday, January 14th, 2007

Oh Little Town of Bethlehem

Oh little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep the silent stars go by
Yet in they dark streets shineth, the everlasting light
The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight.

For Christ is born of Mary, and gathered all above
While mortals sleep the angels keep their watch of wondering love
Oh morning stars together, proclaim the holy birth.
And praises sing to God the king, and peace to men on earth.

How silently, how silently, the wondrous gift is given
So God imparts to human hearts the blessings of his heaven
No ear may hear his coming, but in this world of sin
Where meek souls will receive him still, the dear Christ enters in.

Oh holy Child of Bethlehem, descend to us we pray
Cast out our sin and enter in, be born in us today
We hear the Christmas angels, the great glad tidings tell
O come to us, abide with us, our lord Emanuel.

Joy to the World – Christian Christmas Songs

Sunday, January 14th, 2007

Joy to the World

Joy to the world! The Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King.
Let ev’ry heart prepare Him room,
And heaven and nature sing,
And heaven and nature sing,
And heaven and heaven and nature sing.

Joy to the earth, the Saviour reigns!
Your sweetest song employ,
while fields and streams and hills and plains
repeat the sounding joy,
repeat the sounding joy,
repeat, repeat the sounding joy.
He rules the world with truth and grace,
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness
And wonders of His love,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders, wonders of His love.

Hark! The Herald Angels Sing – Christian Christmas Songs

Sunday, January 14th, 2007

Hark! the herald angels sing, -
“Glory to the newborn King!
Peace on earth, and mercy mild,
God and sinners reconciled.”
Joyful, all ye nations, rise,
Join the triumph of the skies;
With th’ angelic host proclaim,
“Christ is born in Bethlehem.”
Hark! the herald angels sing,
“Glory to the newborn King!

Christ, by highest heav’n adored:
Christ, the everlasting Lord;
Late in time behold him come,
Offspring of the favored one.
Veil’d in flesh, the Godhead see;
Hail, th’incarnate Deity:
Pleased, as man, with men to dwell,
Jesus, our Emmanuel!
Hark! the herald angels sing,
“Glory to the newborn King!

Hail! the heav’n-born Prince of peace!
Hail! the Son of Righteousness!
Light and life to all he brings,
Risen with healing in his wings
Mild he lays his glory by,
Born that man no more may die:
Born to raise the sone of earth,
Born to give them second birth.
Hark! the herald angels sing,
“Glory to the newborn King!

Go Tell It On The Mountain – Christian Christmas Songs

Sunday, January 14th, 2007

Go Tell It On The Mountain
While shepherds kept their watching
O’er silent flocks by night,
Behold throughout the heavens
There shone a holy light

cho: Go, tell it on the mountain
Over the hills and everywhere
Go, tell it on the mountain
That Jesus Christ is born.

The shepherds deared and trembled
When lo! above the earth
Rang out the angel chorus
That hailed our Savour’s birth;

Down in a lowly manger
Our humble Christ was born;
And God sent us salvation
that blessed Christmas morn

When I was a seeker
I sought both night and day
I sought the Lord to help me
And He showed me the way.

He made me a watchman
Upon the city wall
And If I am a Christian
I am the least of all.

Away in a Manger – Christian Christmas Song

Sunday, January 14th, 2007

Away in a Manger

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,
The little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head.
The stars in the sky looked down where he lay,
The little Lord Jesus asleep in the hay.

The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes,
But little Lord Jesus no crying he makes.
I love Thee, Lord Jesus, look down from the sky
And stay by my cradle til morning is nigh.

Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask Thee to stay
Close by me forever, and love me, I pray.
Bless all the dear children in thy tender care,
And take us to heaven, to live with Thee there.
